Base Camp Director
Captained the National Speed climbing squad in the Singapore Climbing World Cup 2002, and has been climbing actively and progressively since 1994. Inspired by the quality of the rock climbing he had on his first trip to Thailand, he got hooked to the sport and have since travelled far and wide climbing in some of the best crags in the world and competed against some of the world’s best climbers in the World Cup circuit.
After being ranked Number 1 in Singapore for 5 years and spending sometime in the top three of regional competitions (Silver in Asia Cup 2001, bronze in the Asian X Games 2002 and 2003), he decided to
give something back to the community.
Together with 2 other partners, he wrote and published Climb Singapore and Climb Malaysia in 2002 - 2 guidebooks that were the first for the region. In 2003, he founded Climb Asia, a rock climbing gym in a back alley pre-war shophouse along Rangoon Rd. Today, Climb Asia is the biggest and arguably the most successful private climbing center in Singapore. BorderX, Singapore's first Via Ferrata centre is his latest project to bring the thrills of climbing great heights to the masses.

Base Camp Manager
An avid adventurer and climbing enthusiast, Yu Seung is part of the management team that runs BorderX. A chance encounter with the exciting sport of “bouldering” in Kuantan 3 years ago had reignited his passion and recently, he had gone out of his way to scale the trademark limestone karsts of Ipoh. For Yu Seung, the feeling of accomplishment at great heights is completely satisfying and it is this satisfaction that he wants to impart to all visitors of BorderX.
Some highlights of his adventure related achievements are:
• Top 5 placing for Cross Country Mountain Biking;
• Record holder for Longest Distance on a motorbike
with 1 tank of petrol;
• Taking part in Enduro Africa, a fund raising off-road
charity motorbike ride in South Africa;
• Multiple finishes in running and cycling events;
• Climbed the outdoor via ferrata in Kota Kinabalu twice!
Always willing to push his own limits, he firmly believes that the via ferrata in Singapore will encourage many people to come forth and cross their own borders. With the BorderX facility in Orchard Central, the technical difficulties associated with climbing at great heights is dramatically reduced. As a result, the experience is now opened to a much larger audience. Reflecting this, Yu Seung will be using his knowledge as a former adventure learning instructor to work on programmes targeted to family groups, corporate teams and even
dating couples just out for a bit of urban high.
